A crash and a fire today

Plumes of smoke permeate downtown Marshfield Saturday, top, as crews work a fire, above, at the OACAC building.

Old buildings went up in flames today and a major wreck on I-44 topped the news today in and near Marshfield.

A major wreck, which reportedly had several injuries to at least seven people, near the 109 mile marker near Conway caused major backups on the eastbound side of the interstate. The Missouri Highway Patrol was still compiling its report at the time of this blog.

Many Marshfield residents saw major smoke and flames a little after 2 p.m. today on the northeast side of the town's square (which I happened to see prior to emergency crews' responding). A historic section of buildings, including the one where OACAC is housed, has been damaged by a fire. Again, I don't know too many details right now.

Spot news is so much fun, I must say. It was fun listening to the police scanner today and hearing all the action.
