I know it is hard to believe but there is a chance of more winter precipitation, including ice, starting on Sunday evening and lasting through Tuesday. The National Weather Service has released this special statement:
CONFIDENCE IS INCREASING THAT ANOTHER EPISODE OF ICE AND SNOW WILL
OCCUR LATE IN THE WEEKEND. AN ARCTIC AIRMASS THAT EXTENDS FROM
MIDDLE TENNESSEE UP INTO WESTERN CANADA...WILL CONTINUE TO INFLUENCE
THE OZARKS REGION WITH WELL BELOW AVERAGE TEMPERATURES.
MEANWHILE...A STORM SYSTEM WILL GATHER STRENGTH OVER THE SOUTHERN
PLAINS...AND TRACK ACROSS TEXAS AND ARKANSAS SUNDAY AND SUNDAY
NIGHT. THIS FEATURE WILL PULL GULF MOISTURE OVER THE COLD ARCTIC
AIR AT THE SURFACE...CREATING A FAVORABLE TEMPERATURE STRUCTURE FOR
FREEZING RAIN...SLEET...AND EVENTUALLY SNOW.
THIS WINTER LIKE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO COMMENCE BY SUNDAY
EVENING...POTENTIALLY CONTINUING INTO MONDAY MORNING BEFORE CHANGING
OVER TO SNOW DURING THE DAY ON MONDAY. DETAILS REGARDING ICE AND
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS REMAIN UNCERTAIN...HOWEVER...THERE ARE
INDICATIONS THAT SOMEWHERE EITHER WITHIN OR NEAR THE OZARKS REGION
COULD EXPERIENCE DAMAGING ICE ACCUMULATION.
EMERGENCY MANAGERS AND OTHER LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES THAT HAVE AN
INTEREST IN HAZARDOUS WINTER WEATHER...SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR THE
LATEST FORECASTS AND DISCUSSIONS THROUGH THE WEEKEND REGARDING THIS
DEVELOPING WEATHER SITUATION.
Confidence has been building in this storm, and I would definitely recommend staying tuned to the weather forecast for the latest details.
Have a nice Friday.
Hasta pronto!
