Ice blamed for two fatalities in southwest Missouri

Monday's ice claimed two lives in southwest Missouri, according the the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Paula Meyer, 39, of Sparta, died in an accident on Spring Hill Road four miles south of Rogersville in Christian County. The accident happened as the driver of the vehicle Meyer was riding in lost control on an ice-covered roadway, ran off the roadway, and struck a tree, the patrol said. The driver and two other occupants of the vehicle received minor injuries.

Jeffrey Woods, 46, of Lamar, was fatally injured when his vehicle also ran off the road in Barton County a half mile south of Lamar.

Both accidents occurred on Monday afternoon.
